New Expansion for Settlers of Catan

About the game

To set up the game, you need the game components from the Settlers of Catan base game as well as new frame pieces and hexes from the expansion. This provides you with quite large a game board, allowing you to go on exciting journeys of exploration and discover new land.
Explores & Pirates – Game Setup
Explorers & Pirates – Harbor Settlement with Ship and Settler
The new Explorers & Pirates expansion is based on The Settlers of Catan game rules but also contains a number of new game mechanisms. For example, ships are now equipped for expeditions and can be moved freely across the board. In the ships you transport settlers, crews, fish, or spices across the seas. Your goal is to build new outposts on the islands that are still undiscovered, in the process completing the Council of Catan's missions in the most skillful way possible.

Explorers & Pirates – coast with pirates
Explorers & Pirates – Pirate Lairs – Example
Your missions are varied. First, you must prevail against pirates who terrorize the coasts of Catan. Equip your ships with crews and search for the pirates' lairs. The Council of Catan rewards the bravest fighters with fame and gold.
Explorers & Pirates – a fisher boat
Explorers & Pirates – Fish for Catan – Example
On your way, you will encounter rich shoals of fish just waiting to be hauled aboard your ship. If you bring the fish back to the home island, the Council of Catan rewards you.
Explorers & Pirates – spice fields
Explorers & Pirates – Spices for Catan – Example
Finally, you will encounter peaceful and helpful villagers who trade valuable spices to you. The Council of Catan will be delighted yet again when you deliver spices to their stronghold. You also benefit from the villagers' extensive knowledge and will learn how to sail faster across the seas or how to better fight the pirate ships.

Sound like a lot of content? Right – the expansion is definitely filled to the brim with content. You don't have to worry, though, because the Explorers & Pirates expansion has a modular concept. In scenario 1, the introductory game, you are familiarized with the basic rules; then, piece by piece, you play the other scenarios containing the previously described missions. Afterwards, you can take your pick which scenario(s) you would most like to play.
After you have played the first four scenarios, in scenario 5 – which bears the name of the expansion – you can complete all 3 previously described missions at the same time. Here, on the largest possible game board, you play until one of the players reaches 17 victory points. Playing this scenario for skilled Catan fans can easily turn the whole evening into an exciting experience.

The Walking Dead Card Game

The Walking Dead Card Game, based on Wolfgang Kramer's 6 nimmt!, features the same basic gameplay as that card game while adding ten character cards and two modes of play: Survival and Hero.

To play the game, you shuffle the 104 number cards, lay out four cards face-up to start the four rows, then deal a number of cards to each player. Each turn, players simultaneously choose and reveal a card from their hand, then add the cards to the rows, with cards being placed in ascending order based on their number; each card is placed in the row that ends with the highest number that's below the card's number. When the sixth card is placed in a row, the owner of that card claims the other five cards and the sixth card becomes the first card in a new row.

In addition to a number from 1 to 104, each card has a zombie point value. In Survival mode (for 3-10 players), players want to collect as few points as possible, while in Hero mode (for 2-6 players) you want to collect more zombie points than anyone else. In Hero mode, each player has a single-use character card that can give you an extra advantage in the round in which you play it.

Sneak Peak

What is Booster Draft Booster Draft?

Booster Draft is a method of play which involves purchasing, opening and building a
deck straight away for a game!
Fighters open the packs and choose a card he or she would like to use in a
predetermined order (this is known as a “draft”), and decks are built right there and
then!
With this unique style, fighters get to experience the thrill of selecting cards, and the joy
of playing with a different deck every time!

How to do a Draft?

1. Decide on the seating arrangement around the table with a random method.
2. Each person will open one pack, and check the cards inside that pack.
3. Choose a card and place it face down in front of you. (On you first pick for a pack you will take a trigger unit and one other card)
Fighters may not peek at the face down cards.
4. Once everyone has chosen their cards, all fighters will pass the rest of the cards in
hand to the person on the left, in a clockwise direction.
5. With the cards received from the fighter on the right, choose a card and place it face
down. Once everyone is done, pass the rest of the cards in hand to the left again.
Repeat until all the cards have been taken.
6. Between the third and fourth pack, you may check your own face down cards.
Starting from the fourth pack, pass the cards in hand to the person on your
right(anti-clockwise).
7. Once all 6 packs have been opened and passed around, the draft ends. The fight will
now begin with the 30 cards chosen and formed as a deck!

Deck building

1. The 30 chosen cards becomes your deck.
2. The rules which restrict only 4 of the same card, as well as only 4 heal triggers in a deck do not apply here.

Game conditions
The basic rules of Cardfight!! Vanguard can be found here:
http://cf-vanguard.com/en/howto/
The rules of a normal cardfight apply, but with the addition of a special rule:
“During a trigger check, if a vanguard or rear-guard of the same clan as the trigger unit
is not present on the field, the trigger effects will still activate.”
Therefore, please ignore the clans of the trigger units when choosing cards to build your
deck

Cardfight Vanguard Tag Team

Official Tag Fight Rules

Recently, tag fight have been introduced in the Cardfight Vanguard!! anime. The rules for this game format also got revealed recently. I hope this will clear up some questions that people might have for this game format.

A tag fight is a cardfight between 4 players, 2 against 2. Each player would have their own decks of 50 cards. There are 2 types of tag fights. One of them, you're allowed to show your hands to your team mate, and have discussions with them, where you can't on the other type. (The official website recommends allowing discussions - this is the format we would you in league play)

Like normal cardfights, each player starts with their initial 5 cards hand and a starter vanguard. Also, each player gets to mulligan once. The winning conditions for this game format is when the opponent's team reaches 9 damage or, one of the opponent's team decks out (0 cards left in their deck).

Now to the more detailed part of the rules. Each player have their own field however, their damage is the total damage of the team. When a Heal Trigger is checked, you check damage for the total damage for your team, and the opposing team. If your team have more than or equal damage to the opposing team, you can heal 1 of your own damage. This means that you are not able to heal a team mate's damage. For Limit Break abilities, the ability is active when the total damage your team have the amount of damage required.

You can only attack cards of the player in front of you. Your team mate can help you defend against opposing attacks by placing units on their Guardian Circle however, intercepting for your team mate is not allowed. Also, you are only able to place units with grade less than or equal to your Vanguard's grade.

For paying costs, you can use your team mate's damage for Counter Blasts and your team mate's soul for Soul Blasts. You however, cannot use cards in your team mate's hand for paying any kind of costs.

To start the game, each player will play a mini-game ie: Scisors, Paper, Stone. The winner of the mini-game will go first, and then to the opposing team member which is not in front of the first player. Players up to the third player will be unable to attack, the fourth player will be the first player to be able to attack. Here's a little example if Kamui goes first. (Follow the arrows)

Card effects that specifies to choose "your" units/cards are only meant for your own units/cards and not your team mate's, and effects that specifies "your opponent" is the player in front of you. This means that for Perfect Guards like Halo Shield, Mark, you are not able to choose your team mate's units for it's effect. For cards that affects cards on your damage like, Battle Cupid, Nociel, you can only choose cards on your own damage zone for the effects. Also, you are not affected by effects that only affect your team mate, ie: you can use grade 0 units to guard for your teammate when a Silent Tom is attacking your team mate. There are also effects that affects every single players, ie: Dark Cat allows every (4) player to draw 1 card.

That's all for the rulings. Overall, I think this format is very interesting.

A Blue/Red Planeswalker!

Introducing Ral Zarek ....

At first glance, Ral Zarek seems pretty insane. The easiest comparison is probably to Ajani Vengeant, due to the similarities between their -2 abilities. Ral does a reasonable job of protecting himself, and his -7 is certainly worth working towards. The real mystery will be how good his first ability is. It doesn't do nearly as good a job of protecting him as Ajani's ability, but it does a passable impression of Garruk Wildspeaker. The real question is whether or not that's enough in a format full of Thragtusks and Huntmaster of the Fells.
