Lords of War - Templar vs Undead

This weekend I was fortunate enough to go to Salute and help out with the Lords of War stand demoing the new expansion of the game ...

The event offered attendee's the opportunity to have a sneal peak at the game before the Kick Start orders go out this week! I have seen some of the cards and images for the set but this was the first time I had played with either of the decks.
The first of the two decks in the new set is the Templar Deck with its general Father Nicodemus! With an impressive sheild value of 8 he truely is one of the strongest generals in the game. This is high sheild value is something that continues through the rest of the deck and makes the Templars a hard force to defeat if you allow them to get a foot hold on the battlefield. There command cards are all very strong and work well together. The deck also includes 3 'Palisade' cards which have a defences value of 9 and can move during your turn! My personal favourites in the deck however are the 4 'Templar Lancers' which as well as being calvary and hitting of 5 on either the left of right sides has an equally impressive defense value of 6!

The Undead deck has a very different feel to it and the art work for it general is quite simply stunning! Asul The Bygone King also has a high defence just slightly lower than the Templar commander at 7! His attacks are very interesting, doing 4 damage in three different directions including backwards! The undead also have moving units, in fact they have quite a few the Zombie Shambler, Zombie Gnasher and Zombie Halberd all have multipy directions to choose from! At first glance this deck seems to hit quiet low numbers with a lot of units only capable of doing in 1! Its ability to move either before or after combat and the variety of directions it attacks in make a very interesting deck to use and is great fun to play!
The deck also has its calvary units and the Black Riders with there atmospheric art and diagonal attack values of 5 are great finishers that can survive to attack again as they have a sheild value of 5!

All in all both decks provide something a bit different and will work well with the other decks in mercenary armies! They will be onsale from KD Games tomorrow at our weekly gaming evening at £12.99 each and for a short period we will be offering two decks at just £10! (this can be either the new decks or the older ones!) The offer will also go onto our Lords of War Website page which can be found here ... KD Games Lords or War

Tomorrow I will be looking at the Weather and Terrain expansion which is also released this week!
