We have been running FNM at the Royal British Legion for a while now rotating MODERN and STANDARD in a competitive tournament from 7pm.

This month's card is ...

From this week we will be offering players another way of getting hold of one of these cards. This week we will be running a multi player STANDARD game with both of the last two players standing getting an FNM promo card. There will be no charge for this as there are no prize boosters. We will start this game at about 5:45pm (when I get back from taking my daughter swimming basically). We really need at least four players  - if your interested then simply turn up and ask to play!

In the coming weeks we will be offering FNM promo cards for other game formats such as commander - these will be included in the FB invite from next week.

Buddyfight Sneak Peak

On Tuesday of this week we will be running a sneak peak for the next Buddyfight release. This event will be limited to a maximum of 8 players.

Booster Draft Explanation

Booster Draft is a method of play where players have no cards to begin with. They are required to
have 6 Future Card Buddyfight Booster Packs per player, at the moment of play.
Players then open 1 pack at a time, choose a card they would like to put in their deck in a
predetermined order (this is known as the “draft”), and then the decks are built right then and
there!
With this unique style, players get to experience the thrill of drawing and selecting cards, along with
the joy of playing with a different deck each time!

Requirements

1. Played with 2 or more players (Recommended 8 players for maximum fun!)
2. Each player will require 6 Future Card Buddyfight Booster Packs

Deck Building and Special Rulings

1. Players will build a deck consisting of 30 cards (29 cards + 1 buddy card chosen by you)
2. Players are not required to have a flag card
3. Players life points will start at 10
4. Players with no cards in the deck zone will automatically lose the game
5. Players will draw 6 cards into their hand at the start as per normal
6. World restriction does not apply to the Booster Draft deck construction (i.e. you may have a
Dragon World monster and a Magic World monster in your deck)
7. Attributes still work as per normal
8. Standard game rules apply, except you may have more than 4 copies of the same card in
your deck

Rules

1. Decide on the seating arrangement around the table with a random method.
2. Each person will then proceed to open one of their booster packs and check the cards in the pack
3. Players will now choose 1 card and place it face down in front of you.
4. Once all players have chosen one card and placed it in front of them, pass the remainingcards to person on their left (clockwise direction)
5. From the remaining cards handed over, players will then choose another card and add it to the face down card in front of them
6. Once the cards have been given out, open the next booster pack
7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 until the first 3 booster packs have been disseminated 8. Between the third and fourth booster pack, players are encourage to look at what they have drawn thus far in order to plan what other cards they should draw for the remaining few booster packs
9. Starting from the fourth booster pack, pass the cards that you did not draft to the player on the right instead (anti-clockwise direction)
10. Once all 6 packs have been opened and disseminated, the draft is over
11. Each player should ensure that they have 30 cards each and select their buddy from within their deck (Players will play with 29 cards in their deck)

Game Conditions

The basic rules of Future Card Buddyfight can be found here: http://fc-buddyfight.com/en/rules/
Each player gets to keep all cards that he/she drafted during the booster draft. If all participants
agree, they can redistribute the cards in another m

FNM Promo Cards

Here is a quick look at the next few FNM promo cards...

MAY
First comes Abzan Beastmaster, a peculiar Hound Shaman who wants to grant all your card-drawing wishes…so long as he can bring his bigger buddies along. If you like big creatures and you like drawing cards, Abzan Beastmaster will be your friend, too—especially if you do well in a May FNM.

June
It's warm outside, but it's getting frosty at Friday Night Magic as Frost Walker, a tragically terrifying 4/1 Elemental, comes bounding along in June.

July
Your eyes do not deceive you. Participate in an FNM in July and you might just walk away with one of the best removal spells ever printed. Path to Exile is a near-universal staple in Modern, and July will grant you an opportunity to stand out further from the pack with this new version, now featuring art from Raf Sarmento. In celebration of Modern Masters 2015 Edition, both July and August FNM promos will be Modern staples. What will August’s be? I will let you know as soon as I find out.

KD Games Pokemon League

This week we have restarted our Thursday Pokemon League after an 18 month gap!

Since the shop on the High Street closed in November 2011 we have been running Leagues as part of our KD Games night and occasionally on a Saturday Morning with Shoreham Pokemon League operating from the Shoreham Centre at our old Thursady time slot.

From this week however there is a change to Pokemon in Shoreham. You will still be able to take part in games if you want on a Tuesday but the main league will now be run on a Thursday from 3:30pm at KD Games in Tarmount Lane for the younger players and at the Royal British Legion from 5:30pm for the older players which is the new location for the Shoreham Pokemon League.

League Challenges will be run jointly by both leagues on the same day to give players the opportunity to maximize their point potential. The first of these will be this Saturday at the Royal British Legion from 11am!

Lords of War

Its been a while since we ran a Lords of War tournament so it was quite nice to issue another Command Star tonight!

Congratulations to Alex on become one of only a few two star commanders and winning a new storage tin for his deck!

This was the first event that we have done with the new magic and monsters expansion and it was interesting to see what the impact on the tournament structure would be, Initially I thought it would make the games longer, but only one game went to time and that was playing to the full 30 unit/6 command cards to win.

The games were very interesting and the 54 card decks really created a varied selection of cards, everyone had gone with a different strategy. For Alex he had concentrated on flying units, electing to take no magic casters and it certainly seemed to pay off!

All the points will be added to this years honor roll in the coming days.

If you have not had a chance to play Lords of War and would like to give it a go then why not head along to Salute in London this weekend where the Black Box team will be demonstrating this exciting game!

Vanguard Sneak Peak

Tonight at the Royal British  in Shoreham we will be holding ...

The registration for the event will open at 6:30pm and I hope to get things started by 7:00pm at the latest!

The cost will be £17 as normal and for those who have not been before the format will be as follows....

Players will use he six boosters to 'draft' a deck to play in three rounds of a 'swiss' tournament o find the sneak peak champion!

There is an important change for drafts in regards to Legion Cards which is ...

"If a fighter opens a Legion Rare, that fighter may ask for a judge to verify it. If it is verified, each player chooses the trigger unit, as well as two other cards, and places them face down."

Other rules remain the same, if you are new to the process here is how it works...

What is Booster Draft Booster Draft?

Booster Draft is a method of play which involves purchasing, opening and building a deck straight away for a game!

Fighters open the packs and choose a card he or she would like to use in a predetermined order (this is known as a “draft”), and decks are built right there and then!

With this unique style, fighters get to experience the thrill of selecting cards, and the joy of playing with a different deck every time!

How to do a Draft?

1. Decide on the seating arrangement around the table with a random method.

2. Each person will open one pack, and check the cards inside that pack.

3. Choose a card and place it face down in front of you. (On you first pick for a pack you will take a trigger unit and one other card) Fighters may not peek at the face down cards.

4. Once everyone has chosen their cards, all fighters will pass the rest of the cards in hand to the person on the left, in a clockwise direction.

5. With the cards received from the fighter on the right, choose a card and place it face down. Once everyone is done, pass the rest of the cards in hand to the left again. Repeat until all the cards have been taken.

6. Between the third and fourth pack, you may check your own face down cards.

Starting from the fourth pack, pass the cards in hand to the person on your
right(anti-clockwise).

7. Once all 6 packs have been opened and passed around, the draft ends. The fight will now begin with the 30 cards chosen and formed as a deck!

Deck building
1. The 30 chosen cards becomes your deck.

2. The rules which restrict only 4 of the same card, as well as only 4 heal triggers in a deck do not apply here.

Game conditions

The basic rules of Cardfight!! Vanguard can be found here:

The rules of a normal cardfight apply, but with the addition of a special rule:

“During a trigger check, if a vanguard or rear-guard of the same clan as the trigger unit is not present on the field, the trigger effects will still activate.”

Therefore, please ignore the clans of the trigger units when choosing cards to build your deck

Dice Master Rules UPDATE

During Tuesdays Dice Masters Tournament there were a couple of rules queries that I hope can be answered by this simple TURN sequence, plus a bit of clarification on 'transition'. The text in bold italics relates to the questions that were raised...

A turn consists of the following:

Clear and Draw Step
Move all energy dice from your reserve pool to your used pile.
Draw 4 dice from your bag; refill it from the used pile if necessary.

Roll and Reroll Step
Roll the 4 dice you drew plus any in your prep area.
Reroll (all at once) any of those dice that you wish.

Main Step
Field characters by paying energy equal to their fielding cost.
Use action dice. Place them in your used pile when finished.
Purchase dice by paying energy equal to the cost. Place them in your used pile.
Both players can use global abilities.
At the end of this step, move unfielded characters to the used pile.

Attack StepSelect attackers. Resolve effects that occur due to attacking.
Assign blockers. Resolve effects that occur due to blocking.
Use action dice. Place them in your used pile when finished.
Both players can use global abilities.Assign and resolve damage. Resolve effects that occur due to damage or knock out.

Clean UpMove unblocked attackers to the used pile. End all effects and clear all damage.
Only energy dice can remain in your reserve pool at the end of your turn.

Lets take professor X common card with the Global: Pay *mask* Move up to 2 sidekick dice from your used pile to your prep area.

Can you save a mask then before your opponent finishes his turn use that ability before your turn?

You can do it during your opponents Main Step. You can do it during the Attack step after attackers and blockers are assigned IF your opponent chooses to attack on his turn.
Can you use that ability more than ONCE per turn?

Yes, as long as you have the energy to pay for it.
If you can use it more than once can you move sidekick dice to your prep area that had been used to pay for the first use of the ability? As in, you have 3 sidekick dice in your used pile. You spend a mask to move two of them to your prep area. So now you have the original ONE, plus the ONE that you just used for the ability. THEN you spend another mask, and move the 2 remaining sidekick dice to your prep area as well?
IF you are doing this on your opponent's turn, then you are correct. If you are doing this during your own turn, then dice that are "spent" go Out of Play (into a "Transition Zone" of sorts) until the end of your turn.
If your bag is empty and an ability allows you to take a die out of your bag. I assume you do not add any used dice to the bag to fulfill the ability because you only put dice back in your bad during the clear and draw phase correct?

You can refill the bag as needed. However, you do *not* take the life loss for being unable to draw enough unless it is during your Clear and Draw phase.

I hope this is helpful, if you have any other Dice Master questions please feel free to ask and I will see what I can do!
